WASTE SITES ALLOCATIONS EXAMINATION
SESSION ON NEW BARNFIELD
TUESDAY NOV 5TH AT COUNTY HALL HERTFORD 10 a.m.
The Public Inquiry into Veolia’s Planning Application has now ended, and Inspector Richards will write his report, and then the Secretary of State will make his decision. (probably next Spring).
Hertfordshire has still not completed its plan for all the waste sites in the county, a plan which could include New Barnfield as a waste treatment site.
The Waste Core Strategy was approved in Nov 2012, but the Waste Sites Allocations document has still to be approved by an Inspector.
The examination of the Waste Sites Allocations document began Sept 3 – 5 2013, and will re-open for two more days on Tuesday Nov 5th, at County Hall, Hertford. It will include consideration of whether the New Barnfield site should be included as a potential waste site.
English Heritage, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, Hatfield Against Incineration and Welwyn Hatfield Friends of the Earth will all be opposing the use of New Barnfield as a waste site at this examination.
Since the Examination is very formal and precise, HAI are not calling for many people to attend. It is possible to be present as an observer, but you should submit names of any observers beforehand to Mary Minnis, the programme officer. Details are available online at www.hertsdirect.org, under Waste Sites Allocations Examination.
